Last week we had a visitor come to our classroom. Teacher Maryam invited a campus police officer to come and tell us about their job, more importantly we wanted the children to learn that police officers can be men or woman. (Boys or girls). Although puzzled by our request for a female officer were were happy to have officer Robyn come to our circle time.
We learned that her job is to keep us safe, she has a radio (got a shout out from dispatch to the children....twice in fact), hand cuffs that keep bad people away, a name tag (just like us) and a wildcat badge.
When asked if any 2 or 3 year old have questions we sometimes get off topic and start to share our love for Lightning McQueen, racecars and even shoes. It was quite comical.
