Tell me she refused to share the ball at recess, not that she's greedy.Describe what my child did, not my child.
Tell me he didn't turn his homework in, don't tell me he's lazy.
When you tell me, "He was so good today." I think, is that unsusal? Just tell me what happened during the day.
You can say he hit someone during class, don't tell me he's agressive.
When you talk to me about my child, you can say he played by himself all morning. Don't tell me he's shy.
I have always LOVED this concept and was so thrilled to see it on display in the ED building by one of our student teachers, Jill Barker! I apply it daily in my classroom setting and quickly let the student teachers that I supervise know that it is not developmentally appropriate to label any Docs, Grumpy's, Bashful's, Sneezy's, Sleepy's, Happy's or Dopey's that we may incounter. :)
